                                        DIY Lip Exfoliator

In the cold months of winter, or when the sun is burning down bright, we all know the pain of slapping on some lipstick to cover up our dried and chapped lips. There is actually a layer of dead skin cells coating your lips, so it is good to exfoliate them now and then.

You will need:
      * a toothbrush
      * Chap stick or lip balm,( and NO, lip gloss doesn't cut it )

Rub a good amount of balm over your lips, and scrub your lips gently with the toothbrush for about 2 to 3 minutes. This will leave your lips feeling hydrated, all the dead skin cells are taken off, and it even makes them look a little fuller.

                                      Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookie Pie

Ingredients: 2 cans garbanzo beans
                        1 cup ground oats
                        3tbsp. coconut or vegetable oil
                        1/4 cup applesauce
       2 tsp. vanilla extract
       2 tsp. baking powder
       1/2 tsp. baking soda
       A pinch of salt
1 and 1/2 cups of brown sugar
       1 tbsp. peanut butter
       1 cup chocolate chips
       1/2 cup chopped walnuts

(Optional) If you want to change things up a bit, you can add chopped up reese's pieces cups to bring out the taste of peanut butter already in the recipe. You could also add chopped coconut flakes.

Combine everything in a blender, except for the walnuts and chocolate chips, ( I used a vitamix and it worked just fine.) Mix in the chips and nuts with a spoon, and pour into a greased deep cake pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes, or until golden brown.

The gooey goodness of this pie is too yummy to resist. Enjoy!

DIY Bleached Leggings

                   DIY Bleached Leggings

I recently saw this great idea on Instagram, and thought why not make my own version of these DIY legging. They are fun, affordable, and will give a certain edginess to any outfit.

         What You Will Need:
         Black Cotton Leggings
Clorox Bleach Pen ( Gel for Whites)

To make the designs just draw lightly on the leggings. NOTE : If you put an excess of bleach on one place, it will dry a light brown, while normal drawing on the leggings turns out to become a muddy brown. The colors will be varying. Also if you want thin lines or small dots on your leggings, remember that they will be twice as big when you wear the leggings, because the fabric will stretch.

Every time you do this project it will turn out differently. Don't worry about having both sides match perfectly, or doing the exact same design. The beauty of the whole thing is in its imperfect and messy look. Just go wild with your bleach pen, and you will have fun!

Chalkboard Painting DIY :]

Hello everyone!
A little while ago I turned the inside of one of my cupboards into a chalkboard for grocery listing purposes. :)
It was super simple and easy!

SUPPLIES:

  • Chalkboard paint (I bought mine from Hobby Lobby, but I know they sell bigger containers at Home Depot)
  • Paintbrush
  • Surface for painting
  • Tape
  • Bowl (to pour the paint into) [:

If your painting a wall or cupboard, tape the sides of the wall so as to not get any paint on the edges.

Then paint one horizontal layer of chalkboard paint onto the surface. Let the paint dry for twenty four hours, and then paint a second layer but this time paint it vertically. (Apparently this makes it work more efficiently)

Next, remove your tape and...voila! It's finished. :]

Super easy, and not hard at all.

happy painting!

Love,
G

Paper Beaded Bracelet

I found this simple yet elegant paper bracelet in a book about recycling paper called,"Playing With Books." It has some great projects, but I thought I would do a simple project first. This tutorial shows you how to make your own style of jewelry, but doesn't look really handmade.

What You Need

First cut a triangle of music paper or book pages that is about 1&1/2" wide and 10" long and brush a little bit of mod podge on the triangle. I usually mix a small amount of water with the mod podge so it isn't too thick. Take the needle and roll the paper over it. It should look like this.

Take a safety pin and slide a small bead onto the opening side of the safety pin. Once the paper beads are dry slip another bead on top,(You will have to trim some paper off to fit the top bead on). Close the safety pins, and cut two pieces of elastic that is 11" long. You will definitely have some extra elastic.

Tie the ends of the elastic to the needle, but leave a little extra to use later. String two beads onto both elastics and the put the elastic through the two holes in the safety pin.

When you have the desired length take the two ends of the bracelet and tie them together tightly. Make sure you pull the elastic tight before tying a knot. Cut the elastic closely and hide the knots.

And that's it! It's a simple craft and very funky!

Melted Crayon Art

Since we are expert mess-makers, we decided to put our talents to use. We've seen this project so many places, and so we finally decided to try it for ourselves.

All you need is:
- white canvas
- large box of crayons ( this depends on the size of your canvas. We used a pack of 64)
- glue gun
- hair dryer or heat gun

1st, glue your crayons to the top of your canvas.(We took out the blacks and browns)

Now use your hair dryer or heat gun to melt the crayon starting at the tip.(The heat gun works faster)

Now just melt however much you want. Each one turns out different. How cool is that?

Orange Chocolate Dips

These Orange Chocolate Dips are a new look on the original shortbread holiday cookies. It has a hint of orange zest in it and would be perfect for parties.

Ingredients:

1 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup cornstarch
Few drops of vanilla extract
Grated zest of 1 orange
6 oz semisweet chocolate,(for dipping)
Makes about 25 dipped cookies
Preparation Time: 20 minutes

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. I normally don't heat up the oven until half way through because I am relatively slow, but if you are fast then preheat the oven first thing.
1. Cream the melted butter and confectioners' sugar together in a large bowl.
2. Next add a few drops of vanilla, cornstarch, flour, and orange zest to the butter mixture. Stir until it forms a thick dough. If your dough is too stiff to pipe, then add a little bit of water until easier to pipe onto a baking sheet.
3. Get a piping bag with a star nozzle, and spoon the dough into it. Note: If you don't have a pastry bag then you can also use a plastic bag, by cutting a hole in a corner of the bag. My star nozzle wasn't big enough, so I just did two rows right next to each other. You can also make your rows straight or you can make it with swirls by gently moving the bag up and down while piping. Pipe even, short rows onto waxed paper on a baking sheet.
 4. Then, off to the oven! Let them bake for 15 minutes, or until golden brown. Let the cookies cool. You can melt the chocolate in a bowl over a pan of simmering water, but I took the easy way out, and just microwaved it:)
5.Dip each stick into the melted chocolate. I did about 1/4 of chocolate on the cookies. That's it! Let the chocolate harden, and enjoy!
Don't forget to turn the oven off!
