Paper Beaded Bracelet

I found this simple yet elegant paper bracelet in a book about recycling paper called,"Playing With Books." It has some great projects, but I thought I would do a simple project first. This tutorial shows you how to make your own style of jewelry, but doesn't look really handmade.

What You Need

First cut a triangle of music paper or book pages that is about 1&1/2" wide and 10" long and brush a little bit of mod podge on the triangle. I usually mix a small amount of water with the mod podge so it isn't too thick. Take the needle and roll the paper over it. It should look like this.

Take a safety pin and slide a small bead onto the opening side of the safety pin. Once the paper beads are dry slip another bead on top,(You will have to trim some paper off to fit the top bead on). Close the safety pins, and cut two pieces of elastic that is 11" long. You will definitely have some extra elastic.

Tie the ends of the elastic to the needle, but leave a little extra to use later. String two beads onto both elastics and the put the elastic through the two holes in the safety pin.

When you have the desired length take the two ends of the bracelet and tie them together tightly. Make sure you pull the elastic tight before tying a knot. Cut the elastic closely and hide the knots.

And that's it! It's a simple craft and very funky!

Love,
